Always willing to have the conversation

Hello, I am Hannah Ordos, running for Whatcom County Charter Review Commission to represent District 4. If I could be known for just one thing, it would be that I am always willing to have the conversation. It is rather simple but also an important part of who I am and we do not do enough of it. Last year I ran for County Council At-large and though I did not win, I still call it a success. I stayed true to focusing on prioritizing people over politics. I advocated for effective local governance, strong fiscal accountability, and lifting up other candidates who were willing to work together to tackle important issues. I got to hear hundreds of stories from everyday people, and those stories inspired me to hit the campaign trail again. I encourage you to learn about our Whatcom County Charter and get to know your candidates. Go to votewa.gov and if you are in district 4, I humbly ask for your vote.

A little about me

I was adopted into a wonderful family and I am a fourth-generation Whatcom County resident on my dad’s side.  The man I call my father is the most hard-working, loyal, and selfless man I have ever known and a very close second would be the love of my life of the last 18 years, Hank Feenstra. His grandparents arrived in Whatcom County from Friesland and he is a 2nd generation commercial fisherman.  Together we have 3 sons, a middle schooler, a high schooler, and my bonus son who is 23.  I graduated from Nooksack Valley High School, attended Whatcom Community College, and earned my Business Degree at WWU.  I have held leadership positions in non-profits, telecommunications, regulated insurance, private education, and health and wellness. I have led, facilitated, mentored, and above all I have learned to listen and collaborate. I remained in Bellingham after college and during my career until moving to Sumas a few years ago to be close to my family.  Every milestone I have experienced has been right here in this community I call home. We hope to build our family home on property originally owned by my great-grandparents and while that may take some time, our garden is thriving, chickens are wandering and it is calf season. UPDATE: We have broken ground on our home, the garden is wintering over, the chickens are molting and all the calves are now big. Oh, and I finally got my braces off.
